Don't buy anything direct from STS. 99% of the guys running a butt mounted turbo had to add a whole bunch of ---- to their"complete" kit. Make sure to heat wrap as much of your exhaust as possible, from the header flange back. You want to keep as much heat as you can in the piping.

Turbochargers convert thermal energy from the exhaust into useful work... The farther away from the hot exhaust gas, the less performance you'll get. For example if you were to put this thing right at the very end of your tailpipe it wouldn't do ----...

Heat wrap helps that problem a lot. And if Rear mounted turbos suck, how is the quickest street LSx powered car running 7s with one?

Well ---- in that case I'm converting to a rear mounted setup ::)

Rear mounted turbos "work" It is hard to make a turbo "not work" once there is something blowing thru it.
Is it as efficient as a normal setup? No
Is running a ton of piping to the rear of the car a good idea? No

I don't buy all this no room stuff. With creativity and fabrication, you can make things fit and work well.
An sn95 mustang has "no room under the hood" Some ingenuity and fabrication-twin turbos:

Here is an Fbody also with no room under the hood.

A well designed rear mount with the right pipe diameter will kick ass..
