Re:Determining if a turbo is good.

i have an IHI RHB5 turbo that i just put on my 95 dohc neon. it was very clean when i got it, had very little shaft play, supposedly has pretty low milage on it, and i even put a rebuild kit in it. i've been having problems with smoke out my tailpipe. i have an oil pressure gauge and needle valve running the oil feed to the turbo. when i turn the oil pressure to the turbo to almost nothing the smoke from the tailpipe disappears, however i don't want to drop the pressure that much when i'm driving it. so i'm wondering why its burning oil so much. would it be doing it because the oil is running through the turbo upwards? that's about the only thing left i can think of. the inlet is on the bottom and return comes out the top. the return from the top goes down to the oil pan. is there a way to spin the middle section to reverse the oil lines??? any help appreciated

OMG feed from the bottom and return from the top?
you should search for this first, then if you don't find what you need, post a new discussion
i think you'll get more help that way and it won't clutter up shortyz's wonderful writeup
