anything that looks too good to be true, usually is. 2.5" endtanks pretty much suck for my tastes. what are you thinking of putting this on? Engine and especially turbo specs would help alot. but seriously, cut the bullshit and just buy a jrc8"

Who cares how much it flows? How much does it cool is what you should really be asking...

2.5" endtanks might be ideal for road races that do not have a lot of straights....less space for air to fill=the faster it gets to the throttlebody.

Buy a used SRT-4 intercooler...they are pretty good.

Regardless of what?

Tested for flow, big ------- deal, you can have your intercooler that is more efficient at flowing are through it, I'll take my intercooler that cools air better.

No, first you said it didn't flow well, now you're just saying it's a peice of crap. Did HMT users do a comparison to some other, better intercooler, or is this just a case of it not being a CCA or JRC cooler, so it's obviously crap. ::)

Re: rate this intercooler

The ebay intercooler looks ok to me-- it has decently shaped end tanks, and how much worse can it flow than any other intercooler? It has cooling fins and slots that air flows through, just like my cca intercooler. If it doesn't leak at all, and its only $60 and you're on a budget, why not use it? Tis the spirit of HMT.

That's the problem, it flows too well to do anything worth the hassle of installing the pile of piss.

Thermal transferrence from a thin gas to a solid metal REQUIRES FRICTION. Best all-around way to get the required friction is a LOT of surface area. A good tube/fin core with well designed internal fins inside the tubes is the best possible way to go. Failling that, if you have to pick up a bar/plate unit, do like Minor Threat did and get as big a unit as you can fit.

I have seem no back-to-back IAT logs for different ICs, for anyone to deem any IC a piece of ----. I know I've got enough .dlf files squirrelled away with different IC/turbo/etc combos to prove anything I want to, but what I'd like to see is you putting your money where your mouth is and prove your point with some datalogs or thorough tests.

FYI, I am cheap. I buy cheap, but I get inexpensive quality parts.

Re: rate this intercooler

jus so all you can suck my penis, im using an intercooler jus like that on my 240, but mine is bigger. its the XXL 32x12x3 with 3" end tanks, it flows like a charm. no xtra lag, maybe a 2psi drop if that. crank up the boost to make up for the difference.

Re: rate this intercooler

Plus the shipping on that intercooler is $50, so you are spending $100. MArketing techniques.

Well yea thats all im saying, Im not trying to bag on anyone using this intercooler or anything, i asked about this intercooler 3 weeks ago, its just after you pay shipping and everything, you chould have bought a JRC intercooler for about 40 bucks more (if his website was ------- up). I bought a 8inch JRC slightly used intercooler of ebay for 62 bucks shipped. But to each his own and i hope the shizzle works out for ya.

I tuned a B16 with chinese .50 trim T3/T04E clone Thursday night. It ran pretty okay, I'd guess 250-ish whp at 8 psi.

peenmysoup 04-28-2006 11:36 PM

Re: rate this intercooler

Well im sure it did, but as for me, i like something that is gonna last, Only time will tell my friend. Is that turbo still holding up on that kids car that jeff did? Intrested in how long these things acually last.

Tom-Guy 04-28-2006 11:41 PM

Re: rate this intercooler

Jeff says yes, as of last week.

This turbo has been abused; bad oil drain on this engine AND on the engine it was hooked to before it, but it's fine.

However, I know of four bad ones in the WNC area alone, with at least twice as many in good shape. If you check the SSAutocoach thread where Random Hero says he has had good luck with one of the makes of .50 trim T3/T04E pictured? Yeah, they are all those.

Two of four T70 I've personally touched are still running like champs... although one of those only has 250 miles on it :l Which I guess is okay, because it's a warranty for the one that the compressor nut backed off of after 50 miles. :l
