It is your radiator cap. Mine was doing the exact same thing for a while and I went and bought a new cap. Stopped it instantly. $6 dollar fix.

ive just got a brand new cap! a spoon sports 1.35bar one.

so i need to get the car to running tempreture and fill the radiator to the top? and what level do i fill the tank to?

when i start the car from cold i fill the radiator to the top and when i finish the journey i had a half empty radiator because all the water is going into the tank at the side which is nearly full!!! will all the water go back into the radiator when the engine cools down?

please help as i am worried about the car overheating if there is no water in the radiator.

This has only done this since i am boosted and never ever did it when i was N/a!

Matt

It should suck the water back up. Keep an eye on the gauge. Your motor didn't run as hot as it does now that it's boosted so the fluid is getting hotter which is causing it to overflow. If it doesn't suck back up or if it actually overflows out of the overflow and drains the radiator, you have problems. Just keep and eye on the gauge.

It does overflow out of the radiator and fills the expansion tank and does not suck back up into the radiator!

Maybe i got a air blockage or something? gonna drain the system and put new coolant in at the weekend, will let you know how i go on.

Any other ideas?

what kind of car do you have? if it's obd o (pre 92), then you can just see how many times the light blinks, if it's obd1, there is a plug you have to bridge, but I forget which one... start a CEL thread.. or search....
