hey..i'm working on building my first custom turbo this summer..and i've been reading up alot..but i'm not getting what things like fmu or a chipped obd is..i know it's engine managment but would anywone mind quickly schooling me on the many options of managment for a turbo set up? thanks alot

 

FMU = fuel management unit
chiped obd0 = chipped ECU for a 4 generation(88-91)(obd0)
ECU = Engine Control Unit

 

would it be best for me to have my ecu chipped by a company such a zdyne.com and pay 950bucks!!! or are there less expensive options that will work just as well

 

Take a look in the Engine managment section of the board. All your question will be answer there.
