questions about clutch or spark plugs

ok guys heres the thing, my 99 si has a T3 on it and the turbo is set to 6 PSI, the car starts going but when i get to a certain rpm, the turbo stop go down to 3 PSI and keeps going down slowly but only at high rpms and the rpms also start going up with no power but not that fast or anything, it doesnt feel like the cluth is slipping but thats what i think it is, i told my friend about it and he says that his 99 eclipse gst did the exact same thing untill he bougt new spark plugs, i have those bosch 4+ platinum...ones with 4 thingys instead of one, could that be what it is, please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-[

Re:questions about clutch or spark plugs

try adjusting the rod behind your clutch pedal...it may be engaging too far out

Re:questions about clutch or spark plugs

only seems to be on 3rd 4th and 5th, it gets more severe as you go up, i dont think it does it at all on 1st though

Re:questions about clutch or spark plugs

ok, i changed the saprk plugs and that didnt do ----, so im guessing its my clutch, so is that why my boost keeps going down or is there another reason, im guessing the clutch is sliping so there is less of a load on the engine and the turbo isent staying spooled up, does that sound like the problem? has anyone had a problem like this before?

adjust your wastegate for more boost and see what happens. how do you know that its actually at 6psi, how did u test that?

it used to stay there and now it goes down slowley and then my rpms start going up fast but not too fast and you can tell it hasent lost all grip but most.

Re:questions about clutch or spark plugs

try this get up to 2nd gear and when your going into 3rd gear shift at 5krpm and pop the clutch. if it doesnt grip right away then its the clutch.

Re:questions about clutch or spark plugs

i asked about replacing my stock clutch if i installed a turbo in my 99si & everyone told me the stock clutch would last a week at the longest. but if you don't feel the clutch slipping at take off or full throttle on first , when there is alot of load cause you're breaking momentum the it could be your clutch. & i read here that platnum plugs & forced induction don't mix. stock ngk plugs are the best for turbos & you gotta retard the timming 1/2 a degree per 1 psi & reduce the gap on your plugs a little- how much i can't recall.

im having a clutch proplem i think ,its a real pain trying to see if its the clutch or not,Unless u pull it out.lol.
Also Check your charge pipe +i/c could be getting a small leak that could be the problem two.Are u hearing a type of hissing noise? also check that bov is not opening under pressure.

and thats my 2cents :)

Re:questions about clutch or spark plugs

my clutch wont slip in first gear, i can rev the piss outa it and pop the clutch on a sticky ass drag strip and it still wont slip but as soon as i shift at high rpm's it slips. sounds like your clutch to me. ive never heard of spark plugs causing this prob before, that just seems funny to me. wouldnt it run like ---- if it was the spark plugs screwing up? just my 2 cents.

Re:questions about clutch or spark plugs

im thinking its your clutch too.. slipping that is. you shouldnt run a stock one on a turbo'd car anyways.
