Default Questions

First, I will absolutely admit I'm a "Noob" to doing my own forced induction stuff.

My questions are:

1. Does anyone here have any experience with Jeeps?

2. Does anyone here have experience with remote mounted turbos? (like STS)

I grew up on a farm with turbo tractors but diesel is far different that gas. I spent a couple of years in Japan in the late 90's and I owned a 1986 or 1988 Sylvia with turbo and enjoyed the boost it had. I'm going to start doing my homework now and hope to have one of very few if not only boosted Jeep JK's. Everyone else is running SC's on them so it has to be doable engine management wise...

Well, I figured if I'm going to do it I'll do it right. I ordered a couple of books on forced induction and ECU programming. We'll see how it goes.

there was a jeep a long time ago that some nagger boosted, inline 6 i think. Rear mount sucks bawllz you'll need an oil pump and lots of intercooler tubing

I have seen several I6 boosted but the V6 in the 07 and later jeeps presents other difficulties as well as it being an offroad vehicle, I have to find a safe place for the turbo housing and charge pipe to mount. I know there are some losses mounting it so far from the engine and the possibility of serious lag but I believe it can be worked out. I think with the charge pipe being so long with the rear mount that it would do away with an intercooler (wouldnt do any good on trails anyway). Wondering if I could use a closed loop with remote filter and oil cooler to lube the turbo?

I was thinking closed loop as well, but it would more than likely require two pumps. The best deal would be to use an aerocharger which is self lubricating but neither one of us is spending $2k on the charger. My system is lubricating well using a sandwich adapter through stainless lines and then pumped back up with a shurflo pump. Everything is done except for the charge pipe.

Why's that? (Just curious) I used to tractor pull our International 1066 turbo diesel. Back then everything was mechanical injection and timing with no way to adjust boost or anything. When I lived in Okinawa, Japan we used to drift down at the Naha port between container stacks. The local speed shop had a 900hp RX7 but couldn't tell ya how they got there, I just know they had custom everything.

Yeah, I've always had a fascination with forced induction from my first ride in a brand new Grand National. If it weren't for the stupid CANBUS on my jeep I'd have it done now but I heard someone just came out with a new tuner program that I have to look into.
