question about dsm 450 install
i didnt know if this should go here or in the engine man. sectiion. but anyways....
i put some 450s in my 91 civic today, and had a few questions. - the write up on the site says to get some taller bottom seals and bore them out. i just used some b16 bottom seals and bored them out, and was woundering if i would have any problems with those. -i put the injectors in and they fit fine except where they go into the fuel rail. the slid in fine, and i tightened down the fuel rail, but in between the rail and the injector seal(quess thats what it is. its the smaller round black seal ontop of the injector) there is a little gap. just woundering if this is normal. thanks |
Re:question about dsm 450 install
meaning the top seal isnt tight?...thats not cool. and as for the lower seals, its fine so long as the dsm injectors end up sticking into the manifold as much as the stock ones did
|
Re:question about dsm 450 install
well the o-ring that goes into the fuel rail is tight, its the black seal right below that...
|
Re:question about dsm 450 install
oh...the spacer thing? is the injector maybe too far down in there and the rail cant tighten down on it enough?...if the injectors are tight in there that spacer shouldnt matter much imo...but i dunno
|
Re:question about dsm 450 install
well the injector sits snug(looks nice and normal) in the intake manifold. but im not using the taller seals. the rail is flush with the plastic pieces that sit on the intake manifold where the studs are to put the nuts on. everything look fine but the gap in between the fuel rail and the black seal on the injector.(the one right befor the injector gets fat)

Re:question about dsm 450 install
did you check the overall injector height compared to stock?...you may want some taller seals
|
Re:question about dsm 450 install
I think that's normal. Mine have a gap and they don't leak so ---- it. As long as your O-rings are good you should be fine.

Re:question about dsm 450 install
i dont thing they can move up and down....i dont think
|
Re:question about dsm 450 install
yeah you need the taller seals. that is why they say in the write up that you need taller seals, the dsm injectors are a bit shorter where they go into the fuel rail. i got the same seals that are in the write up.

Re:question about dsm 450 install
.....if my injectiors dont move up and down wont i be fine?...if they dont move up and down wouldnt that mean they are tight in the fuel rail
(up as high as they can go?) so how would getting taller bottom seals take up the gap in between the rail and the rubber seal ontop of the injector? i guess having the taller seal is just to have the injector stick in the manifold the same distance as the stock injector. which i will look into tomorrow. |

turn your car on, leave it in neautral, go look under the hood when the car is running in idle. let us know how much fuel just got all over you. so i quess i did win the prize!!!! :D i know my injectors will be fine, and when i get my ecu back from being socketed i will be able to tell u that no gas got on me :o, and ur the reeturded one for acting like u know it all, and not adding any usefull posts to this topic. |
Re:question about dsm 450 install
as long as you dont get squirted you'll be fine
|
Re:question about dsm 450 install
just be certain...if there is room for movement (even if you cant move it), i would fix it since with the added pressure from the fuel and maybe if you hit a bump... :-\
