question

ok i have a question, i was look for an hf manifold for my setup and i came across this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2414858585&category=67 70 now the turbo i have has a built in wastegate... so what do i do with the flange for an external wastegate ? just leave it? or do i have to block it up or something? also would it just be easyer to get an hf manifold?

thank you

tough to say...

that wastegate flange feeds from the opposite direction that it should. ideally you would want the wastegate to branch into the flow of exhaust, not require the exhaust to make a 70 degree u turn in order to evacuate via the wastegate. i'm not a honda guy though so i may be uninformed, and this may be a space issue.

if you did buy this manifold, you have a few options. you can use a block off plate or you can get a different exhaust flange for your turbo that covers the internal wastegate exit area. the latter would allow you to run a tial or deltagate on that manifold. may also afford you some more space, as the internal wastegates are a bit gangly and tend to get in the way of other bits/turbo placement.

additionally, how do you folks get away with manifold to head surface sealing when your manifold bolts run between the main flanges? seems that the expansion and contraction of the steel in the flange would promote longitudinal cracks from the bolt holes outward.

From what I've heard, stay away from that manifold. They crack. You could have it braced though. Up to you.
