Qeustion on check valve to map sensor...

I went down to parts store today to get a check valve to put in front of the MAP sensor. Every time I hooked it up, it would let the car run but full vacuum couldn't get to the MAP, so it could barely even idle much less run right. So i went in and got a check vavle with bigger ports on it, thinking that it wasn't letting enouph air get through. But still the same result...am I just getting shitty check valves, or is there something I'm missing? BTW I'm running the MAP that was on my 94 CX motor. (now on b16)

dont buy them fron the parts store, buy them from the fish/pet store. dont think automotive check valves are the same...

i think he's using a check valve that only lets air flow one way....shouldnt he be just venting some boost off, right?...i have no idea im just wondering

You can't run the check valve inline to the MAP. You have to put a T fitting and put the check valve in the T. Make sure you put the valve in right. The air should come out of the valve when you blow into it(boost) and the valve should shut when you suck on it(vacuum). Are you throwing any codes?

Is the T that goes into the throttle body sealed or put on tight, you could have a vaccum leak. You should just go get a missing link. You avoid that hassel and guess work. I used check valves and my car didn't run right, I've heard it only works for 7 out of 10 cars. It's only $60 from group5motorsports.com and you prevent a busted map sensor which is what happened to me.

Yeah make sure the valves are bleeding off the boost. At idle the valves should not be sucking in air.

If you do purchase valves from a pet store do not get the plastic ones.

I didnt draw that fucker up either..

but thats how its done, they dont go inline, they have to be T'd first, so the can "BLEED" boost.
