PVC (plumbing) pipe for charge piping?

I've seen these use to make diy(ghetto) cold air intakes and they have worked really well, but will they worked for forced induction applications. I think they should take the pressure(if rubber hoses work) but I'm wondering if the temps (pre-intercooler) would be to hot for them. They can handle boiling water just fine. I also worry about the 90 degree corners. You know, maybe a sandblasting affect in the corners. You would have to use rubber connections to connect pvc to turbo, intercooler,t-body etc. But if rubber hose worked on probe gt and conquest why not pvc?

Yeah I know the probe charge piping is like rad hose, but I wondering if plastic pvc will work in the eng comp/under pressure. thanx

that black piping used for toilets and drain tubes? dont use that crap, think about how much pressure your toilet can put throught that? They dont use those for the incoming water, there's a reason, too high of a pressure.

Use the grey ones
My friend is running on them for 3 month's now.
No problem
Just put some silicon seal or window seal where they mate and clamp it good.

There's a special cement to use, regardless of black (ABS plastic) or white (PVC), when joining the pipe. Some high temp silicone might be good when joining the pieces with rubber boots, but I have no problems.

Flat out, PVC works. Mike Sitar's 9.90 second 351W Capri uses PVC, I use PVC, and come to find out, some of the faster local guys use PVC (somebody named "Howie" with a Turbo II RX7 that's supposed to be low 12's). However, don't use PVC. Why? It attracts dirt like a magnet and looks like ----... which I like but most don't... therefore I steer you to the black/greay ABS pipe.

Well shipment to Europe ain't so cheap.
And I can't find any place that sells ubend cheap.
There is a place that sells mendrel bend peaces, but Stainles steel and one peace no matter at what degree it's bend it costs 25 bucks and it's only 4 inches

Thanx guys. I'm trying to save as much money as possible. Not just because I'm cheap, but anyone can go out spend 5 grand and have a 12 sec car. But the reason we're here is because we like to build our own kits cheap and spank those that spent way more and are proud of the 3000 for a kit and paid someone to put it on. "what turbo do you have? uh I dont know but it cost 3000!" I can be proud of a system I built for 500 and know all about it. Not to be mean/a jerk but an hf mainfold with a hunk of adapter plate hanging out and td05 turbo looks rednecked/ghetto but I/we like it. I love this site because its all about diy and making fast. Joseph Davis hows it going, long time no hear, what the lastest on ghettodyne 2.0(boooost baby) can't wait. Thanx guys.

That about sums it up.

JC is the way to go though. Map out your charge pipe routing in your head and order up the appropriate # of mandrel bends, get a section of straight pipe and go to work with a rental welder. For couplings, try a marine supply or diesel supply store and ask for turbo hose or wet exhaust hose. Its about $1-2$ an inch, not bad. <-----thats what she said.... :)

Just do what makes you happy, its all functional in the end.

Re:PVC (plumbing) pipe for charge piping?

Yeah, PVC fumes are toxic. Goes right out the exhaust into the lungs of whoever's losing, right where it needs to be :D

Hop out of the car sometime and touch your PVC charge pipe. If you didn't use it withing a foot of the compressor discharge, it isn't even warm, much less 260+ degrees.

Re:PVC (plumbing) pipe for charge piping?

joseph exactly.

also the fumes will only come off as cholrine at way over 260. its when the plastic is burned.

usually pvc will turn to liquid at about 290.

Re:PVC (plumbing) pipe for charge piping?

well, still a risk, hit a pothole, the pvc jerks, hits the engine block... just spend the extra cash and don't buy pvc

just a thought.
if you paypal me the money i would be more than happy to pay for the ubends then ship em to you. i know u guys have to pay customs crap so i would say its only worth like 10 bucks that way its not so harsh on your end.
