PVC boost pipes

what's the take on this? will it last for a couple months for testing purposes? think the little elbows and the special glue will hold about 15psi?

I've seen it before as well... I wonder why more people don't? Do they crack over time? Or melt?

I mean, if they work, then why not? They are cheap, easy to work with, and light weight...

alot of people have hooked them directly up to the outlet on the compressor

personally, if i was to do it, i'd use a radiator hose from the outlet, then clamp it to the pvc and go from there

I've done it, Works fine, but I do suggest running a steel or aluminum pipe anywhere near the turbo. I use 1 4" peice on the oulet and it deformed by the end of the season. The rest was all behind the bumper and I worked fine. Try to find the nice large radius bends instead of the tight 90deg. They will flow MUCH better.

god, that ---- ------- blows ::) you got to find some strong ass glue or jb weld it for 15psi!, mine blew off ever 5 mins at 6psi

Most people do not do it because it looks like ass. How long it lasts is often a function of the turbo you're running. I usually go and spank every turbo setup I do for at least a few minutes and I've found that even the home depot rubber connectors will melt if on the turbo outlet.

I had charge pipes duct taped together for a while :-X Held 10 psi all day long O0

Re: PVC boost pipes

I should say not PVC but the Black ABS piping. Just use the proper contact cement that is intended for it and it will out last any hose clamp and coupler.

Doesn't look like ass either. It's all black, paint chips don't matter on your flat black steel pipes and it won't corrode for YEARS!

Or you can just use soft piping from Home Depot or Lowe's, with hose clamps.

Cool. I'll be doing that first then... I mean, then I dont even need to leave my garage, just a hacksaw and some glue! When I've tested the system, just take all the boost pipes to an exhaust shop and get them copied in ss/steel. Thanks.

I wouldn't recomend it when pvc heats up it will emit chemicals over time that rot your seals and gaskets. Its terrible on a motor. I'm not sure how it works but if you dont believe me ask someone that knows a little more about it.

thats a PVC charge pipe normal pvc is rated to 280psi!! no ---- it was printed on the side before i wrapped and painted it. the only down side to pvc is that it CONDUCTS HEAT!!!! once the charge pipe got hot it stayed hot for a long ass time!! also is you looks at the pic the place where i mounted my BOV got soft from the heat and my bov fell off while driving :( but this was only once. good for temporary but just go to an exhaust shop and get 1 made for less than 10$ ;D

I used PVC for 4 month's...my intercooler was close to the tuirbo so it was connected with a hose there...but after that it was all PVC...it held great very light, just use PVC Glue/cement it will never blow...it holds up to 70psi
