Putting new pistons & Rods in B16
 
Hey, does anybody know if I need to do anything more that ball hone the block if I'm am going to put in new forged pistons and stronger rods that are the same size? I want to stengthen the bottom end before I boost this baby.

make sure the cylinder walls are perfectly round; a machine shop will do this as well other things , about strenght ill suggest a block guard and accurate cleareances all throut the assenbly ;D

Indeed, you should check the size of the bore before you even hone it to make sure everything is ok. You can simply put a compression ring in the cylinder and measure the end gap in a few differnt places from top to bottom, to get an idea of what spec you are looking at. I dont know what the exact sizes are for ring gaps, but you should be able to look it up.

Thanks man...I never thought of using the ring to check clearance. BTW, have you seen the block guards that have the coolant holes in them? Do you think they will work just as well...or even better?
