Pros/Cons Water cooled Turbos

What are the pros/cons on water-cooled versus non-water-cooled turbos?

WRT hondas, are the wc'd turbos usually hooked up inline on the coolant flow to the intake manifold?

Re:Pros/Cons Water cooled Turbos

Water cooled are supposed to help keep the turbo cooler and make it last longer. And most people disconnect of extend the water lines from the throttle body.

Re:Pros/Cons Water cooled Turbos

alot of times watercooled turbos will make a honda engine idle -------, unless you bleed every last bit of dirt and air out.

raises the overall temp of your engine up a buttload

Re:Pros/Cons Water cooled Turbos

So would it be better or worse to use a water cooled turbo ?

I would say better for the turbo, but worse for the motor. ---- the turbo and save the motor. Compare the cost of your turbo to your motor. :-\

Huh??? mines runs cooler?? untill you put ur foot in it... that 6-8 feet of coolant line dissapates heat just like a radiator

hotrex 02-13-2004 01:06 PM

Re:Pros/Cons Water cooled Turbos

the turbo just heats up your coolant, the lines doent dissapate that much heat. my ihi man my a6 run hot. my new turbo is oil vooled only. let the motor cool itself through the rdiator.

Re:Pros/Cons Water cooled Turbos

depends on the price of the turbo.

i woudnt mind seeing how much it raises your coolant temps. be a good comparison.
