I think my turbo has a leak, I am spewing white smoke out so bad I can't see a car behind me. there is some liquid on the turbo itself (the exhuast housing) I think it has a blown seal for the coolant maybe? or what? does this mean a rebuild or what should i do?

anyone know how a T25's water is done inside the turbo? i've never had one apart. any help would be appreciated.

I don't think there are any coolant seals in a t25. I beleive it's just routed through passages in the center section of the turbo, and then out the other side of the center section. Check your oil and see if theres any coolant in it. You may have a blown headgasket.

the thing is though, there was no white smoke before the turbo, and it's only been ran a total of 7 minutes since the turbo. I doubt it's the headgasket. esp cause there was white smoke the first time i started the car with the turbo on (no charge pipes) and i had driven the car there beforehand. unless the headgasket blew on its own during the install I don't think that's it.

well there has to be some sort of seal in there for the coolant...what would keep it where it belongs

was the turbo used? is the smoke hella white or light blue? does it smell like coolant?unless you have a crack in the turbo housing there shouldnt be a way that water can get in your exhaust. most likely you got bad seals and your burning oil.

i say disconnect the water lines and get a turbo timer....hehe problem solved

it's hella white, no blue involved. and there's a small bit of water on the exhaust housing. I think there's a crack in the turbo. I'm gonna try plugging the coolant lines and seeing if that stops the smoking and watch the temp guage. If not (or maybe anyway) it's time to by a new turbo.

agreed, more than likly its burning oil. Burning oil can come out as "Grey" too, but if it is WHITE, just smell it, its pretty obvious if its coolant or not, pinch the coolant lines going to the center section, but I really cant see those leaking. Pull the downpipe and inspect for oil on the exhaust wheel.
