problem with turbo Laser
we just got this thing not to long ago...and it has the bov like redirected back into the charge piping...and when we unplug it the car boggs down and wants to die on us...i want to change the bov and up the boost because that the 1g bov will leak past 13psi. how can i stop the bogging

Re: problem with turbo Laser
you have to leave it pluged in so it can recerculate back into the system. since it has a maf it regesters the air coming in before the turbo, so by unpluging it you are releasing air that has already been acounted for. This throws of the a/f mixture of the car causing it to bog. also get a greddy type-s bov it can be recerculated and it works good.

Re: problem with turbo Laser
why can't it just be as easy as my civic was ::)
|
Re: problem with turbo Laser
Uhh... it is easy. Get a GReddy type S BOV and you're good to go

Re: problem with turbo Laser
whats the differance?
|
Re: problem with turbo Laser
Pertaining to what?
|
Re: problem with turbo Laser
how come i can use that bov and no other?
|
Re: problem with turbo Laser
You don't need to specifically get THAT blow off valve, just get any reciruclating BOV. Or crush the existing DSM one.
|
Re: problem with turbo Laser
Move the bov upstream of the MAF and you won't have problems.

Re: problem with turbo Laser
A guy down here runs a crushed 1st gen dsm recirc valve on his talon (same basic car) and his will hold around the 23psi mark. Anything after that though leaks like a bitch he said.

Re: problem with turbo Laser
the car will bog because it has the dumb ass maf, your car will run like ---- w/o it plumbed back into the intake
and the dsm bov doesn't leak at 13, whoever told you that was a dumbass, or if you have to blow off the atmosphere then at least get a gm maf and maf tranlator, and the bov has to be BEFORE the maf not after it....just go gm maf, and don't crush the bov without hookin it up to a vacumm gauge and the test it WHILE u crush it otherwise you'll gert surge....read the these before u crush http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=220909 http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101593 |

Re: problem with turbo Laser
Usually the rule of thumb with DSM's is to leave the recirculation pipe on but most people dont anyway, its all up to you really, without it though there is a chance the car will run like ass, some do some dont. It also fucks up your gas mileage, with the pipe off at WOT my Laser runs rich as ---- between shifts, sometimes it kicks a flame, its all up to you though really.
