Probe Turbo

Hello, I am looking for some advice on choosing a turbo. I have a 90 ford Probe with the 3.0l Vulcan engine, the same one in Rangers, Windstars and Taurii.
It is a 5 speed. I was using the SquirrelPF website to guide me but is down. It has been down for a couple of weeks now. Thanks in advance for any help.

Where are you located?
I would take a look at other engines in the 3L range that had factory turbos and use the turbo from it, unless you are after max power, then you would want something much larger.
Good Luck

I am located outside of Philadelphia, PA. The 3.0l Vulcan did not come with a turbo from the factory. I am not looking for anything crazy, looking for between 5-10 pounds of boost.

At what rpm range do you want to be on boost? What are you planning to use for engine management? Do you have room for an intercooler? There is a lot more to it than just installing a turbo. I am thinking that a T3/T4 should give you fairly quick spool on a 3L engine or a T4 for more power potential. Try to find build on similar sized engines and see what worked for them.
I am not an expert and I still have lots to learn.;D

Engine management will be mostly stock, going with a BEGI FMU and slightly larger injectors. I'd like boost to kick in fairly low, like 2500 RPMs. I was not planning on an intercooler just yet, for 2 reasons. One, boost will be pretty low to start off. And second, it is going to be a rear mount setup.

I'm thinking something like a Garret GT2871 if you want quick spool up, or a GT30 series if you want more power.

I'd rather stuff the turbo under the hood if there's room for it at all. Rear mounted turbos are more of a last resort option for cramped engine compartments.

I was looking for something just a little less expensive as far as turbo. How about this? I can post engine data if it would help. T3 50 Trim / Stage 1 .48 A/R

Here is some engine data- 6 cylinder, 182 cid, bore 89mm, stroke 80mm. I'm looking for no more than 8 pounds of boost for now. Thanks!

Here is what we came up with so far.

I am not familiar with that turbo. Do you have a compressor map for it?
