Prices of your kits?

Hey all,
My name's Matt and I'm new to the forum. I'm 17 and have a '97 Integra GSR. Since you guys pieced together your own kits, I was wondering how much it cost some of you? I had been thinking about going turbo for a while, but didn't have 3k to drop on a used kit and tuning, so I decided not to ont he grounds of not doing it half-assed. I put my money into some coilovers and other suspension stuffs (auto-x is calling), but am always interested in learning more about other facets of making power. I know the "basics" of turbo's, so pardon any stupid questions I might have.

Re:Prices of your kits?

it all depends on your goals....low-psi setups can be done really cheaply, it all depends where you get your parts (that said, the first time i turbo'd my d16 it took about 150 bucks and a lot of ghetto-ness)

hmm, well I was just looking for the feeling I get when I drive my friend's GST, like it puuullss, my car is faster, but you can feelit when his car gets into powerband...I was thinking 300hp daily, but now I'd want something responsive if I went turbo, as I've gone into corner-carver mode. Most likely I'll wait until I can pick up a job in the summer (damn AP high school classes) and combine that money to get started on a kit.

When all is said and done I'll have about $1500-$1750 into mine. I didn't really try to save money and build a low budget setup.

Re:Prices of your kits?

new vafcII - 300
rc 440s - 250
fake spearco b/p fmic - 275
rebuilt t3 super 60 - 330
deltagate - 110
new piping from jcw - 77
new oil lines - 75
new assorted flanges, etc - 100 +/-
new tubular mani - 200

Those are approximate prices I paid. I could have shopped around and gotten better deals on some of it tho. Take your time and shop the forums. dsm injectors with resistors can be had for $75 easy. johnnyracecar.com selling new fmics for $190, or get a dsm sidemount for $50. stealthmode has log manis for $175. The only thing I absolutely would NOT skimp on is the turbo. Get a good one that will last. The rest is just details. And make sure to get good fuel management. Use an afc or emanage, or hondata, or chip your ecu - those are probably the best options going. If you wanna do it cheap, get an ecu and chip it - but the learning curve is steep ???, or get a smc afc.

Re:Prices of your kits?

my kit is on hold right now, but I was hoping to pay near $1000, maybe less.

if you really want some cheap engine management get yourself some 450s and $10, head down to radioshack, open the voltage regulator drawer, get the lm 317t or something like that, and get all the parts shown on teh back, hook it up to your map sensor and you have an afc, I built mine already, it's just not installed.

Re:Prices of your kits?

My kits always cost me $2000-$3000. I buy all new ---- and don't shop around much. $1000 of that is just the turbo and the intercooler. :-[
