pressure in cooling system
there is alot of pressure in my cooling system causing the coolant to go out; at first i thought it was boiling out; but it wasnt that hot ;now i see that it is being forced out threw the over flow bottle ;the car runs fine ;there was white smoke coming out of the exhaust; but that was only cause it was coming out of the overflow bottle onto the intake and into the motor ;i since then moved the overflow bottle

Re:pressure in cooling system
Not positive but that could be a blown headgasket. :-\

Re:pressure in cooling system
thats what im thinking(hopeing);but wouldnt it blow white smoke out the exhaust at idle;and the only time it overheats is when it has blown enough coolant out to cause it to

Re:pressure in cooling system
If your losing coolant, it is either your head gasket or your radiator cap. Replace the cap with a KNOWN good one and if it still has the problem it's your head gasket.

Re:pressure in cooling system
My car was doing the same thing. I tried replacing the rad. cap, but that didn't fix it. The extra pressure ruined the t-stat as well. So this weekend I changed the headgasket. I would tell you if that solved it, but the machine shop cracked the rocker arm assembly (jackasses).
After driving it for a little bit, pull over with the car running and pull the lid of off you overflow but leave the hose submerged in the coolant. If you are seeing bubbles, it's your headgasket. If not, only by an OEM Honda rad. cap. The rest are junk. |
Re:pressure in cooling system
Just get a STANT cap or if your a baller you can get the SPOON cap for $349.99. It will give you 15whp and 8ft. lbs. of torque.
As for the head gasket, I would stick with Honda and spray it with copper spray. __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re:pressure in cooling system
my coolant got so damn presurized that it cracked the radiator in three places.
|
Re:pressure in cooling system
Yeah, the OEM honda head gasket is the only way to go. A local guy is building 690 hp on an oem headgasket. Stant will work just fine, but I still say if you live close enough to the dealership and you don't mind dropping $12 or whatever, then get the oem.

Re:pressure in cooling system
i read some were to get a z6 head gasket instead of a6; cause it was copper;oh and i got a new cap problem is still there

Re:pressure in cooling system
Arent the cometic stock gaskets good as well?
|
Re:pressure in cooling system
Either a head gasket or a cracked sleeve. Check if the oil is milky.
|
Re:pressure in cooling system
oils fine
|
Re:pressure in cooling system
is the felpro head gasket junk compared to the oem; cause i can get the felpro tommorow ;i cant get the oem till next week
|
Re:pressure in cooling system
I have heard alot of people bitch about the Felpro, but I have used them. :-\

Re:pressure in cooling system
i have the same problem... if i drive like my mom, the car is fine. but if i hammer on the car it pushes the fluid into the over flow. headgasket or warped head, or your head bolts arnt torqued properly, or (man thats a lot of or's) you did a head swap, reused the old stretched bolts and (like me) and thats your problem.

Re:pressure in cooling system
i pulled the head off ;and the gasket was bad ;i have pics on another thread ;the head has never been off of this motor

Re:pressure in cooling system
im diggin this mr gasket mls i got

Re:pressure in cooling system
The pressure is more than likely from the exhaust gases seeping into your coolant system. On the downstroke, the coolant should be sucked into your combustion chamber.
How could you tell the pressure increased? |
