power loss

i was boosting in my civic and went up to 8psi and it didnt seem to have that much of a pull anymore, could i be losing compression? :'(

wow, could you be more vague...can you tell us a little more about what is happening??

but to awnser the question, its very possible...

Re:power loss

if you don't have fuel pumping in with that mass amount of air, it will do that.... but I don't know your setup.

Re:power loss

the loss of pull could just be you feeling the wastegate opening and the boost stopping building up

93 civic d15b7
12:1 fmu
td05h
ignition retard by 2 degrees
front mount intercooler
dsm bov
custom charge pipes
vx manifold
2" downpipe

k well, if i floor it around 3000rpm in second its starts to backfire and surge i think its because there is too much fuel with my 12:1 FMU. But sometimes it just doesnt seem to have any pull, the engine revs up but it seems like im just running NA. The boost gauge shows that i running 8psi so it is not a vacuum leak. It just feels like my friends NA d16z6 could beat my car. Also i was thinking of building a better manifold for better flow, will this help with lower end power? also should i be using a 3" downpipe? my downpipe as of now consists of 3 different sizes of pipe, starts of with the stock talon pipe for about 5 inches then to a slightly smaller pipe, then to the stock downpipe, which bolts to the cat, which is also gutted. i have also heard it is not a good idea to have a gutted cat??? i also read that for leaning out the Fuel under boost you can add a bleeder in the vaccuum line to the FMU, will this really work?

Re:power loss

Was it running fine under lower boost? Is this a new problem with 8 pounds of boost? If so you are running out of fuel, I noticed you dont list larger injectors in your modifications, you have hit the limit that your stock injectors can flow in my opinion. Its time for a fuel upgrade, and get an air fuel guage.

Re:power loss

you should just run an open downpipe, it sounds awesome and gets the exhaust out faster, who needs a cat and exhuast and stuff anyway

Re:power loss

You didn't say you have an inline or upgraded pump.... Your FMU is rising your fuel pressure around 96 PSI, and if you don't have a better than stock fuel pump, your fuel system won't be able to provide that much pressure. Your engine isn't getting enough fuel.

You should be careful running like this, if it is running lean, you can very easily blow your engine.

Re:power loss

i have an air fuel guage and it never goes lean, when i floor it it goes rich.

Re:power loss

its still hard for us to tell what not alot of pull means to you.

could be running fine, and you want it to be as fast as a porsche turbo or someshit.

and thats why your like "aahh its not pulling hard"

or maybe its totally F'd up.
its hard for us to tell,
