Power issues

Ok, so I finally got my turbo kit on my new motor and was getting it tuned, problem was the power dropped off like crazy after 5250rpms, and this was at 14psi. We found out that VTEC wasn't engaging, but it had voltage, etc. Later we had oil pressure issues, and on my way home the oil light came on and I scared myself shitless. I have no clue yet if a bearing ate it or not, but I was wondering what could be the cause of such oiling issues. I had no issues on the motor till it was turbo'd. I had the ENDYN pump and whatnot to try and improve the oil pressure to prevent this. Any ideas what might be causing this oiling issue?

Ohh, here is a dyno sheet.

Any clues other than VTEC not kicking in that would cause this?

Re: Power issues

Has anybody ever seen a dyno chart like this? I am kinda confused as to what I need to fix besides VTEC, but I am really curious if anyone has seen a dyno graph that curved like this.

Re: Power issues

Where is the oil source to the turbo hooked up?
I´ve seen someone that hooked up it somewhere on the head and the turbo was "stolen" the pressure.. no vtec, etc..

back of the block, stealthmode oil kit.

Re: Power issues

even if vtec didnt kick in, I dont think the power would drop off that bad, yes it would gain as much but it wouldnt just drop like a rock

anny noises out of the engine after running it at the dyno?and is the graph shown above, the onely run with that figure?
How dit you tune it(feul managment?)

If you dropped oil pressure I would pull the motor or at least pull it apart and find out why.

Re: Power issues

yup,

and running it at 14psi,
did you start with 14psi at once or did you build it up from 0 psi to 14?

That is what really had me stumped, I thought it would kinda slowly drop off, not act like it hit a brick wall.

Tuned with NepTune with 450's and a resistor box, no weird noises at the Dyno, did a good 12+ runs no probs but it occasionally stalling. Once I left, went to a gas station and it had issues staying started and I called the tuner to talk to him about it and get it fixed later, then after getting on highway the light came on slightly later. But every run at the dyno looked like that.

I did pull apart the bottom end, it actually spun all the main bearings, and rods were fine...kinda weird. I'm almost thinking about getting a new stock Z6 and putting my head with cam and springs on it and running lower boost. I might not be able to afford replacing bearings and ---- too. Just this time I'll make sure I put a restricor in line.

Started at 14 psi, I got the WG from a friend and found that it had a 14psi spring and not an 8 like we thought. kinda scared us at first when we were expecting 8psi.

have you checked your cam timing? I have had engines run flat on there face before if the cam is 1 tooth off, advanced or retarted.

Damn that sucks man!! good luck with the rebuild

Yeah, even the crankshaft had grooves in it. I'm just gonna throw a stock Z6 with a cam in and boost it.

It actually ran fine before, I think it was all oil pressure with the turbo getting too much and possibly a busted VTP sensor, so no VTEC and crap performance up high.
