Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
get some ramhorn manifolds and flip em. weld (2) t3 flanges to them. aftermarket your carb if you haven't already, holley boost or bust is where its at.

Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
thanks and can u go in a little further dept of this manifold thing
|
Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
With fords anyway you can just take the stock tubular headers, flip them over and point up or down in the front, weld T3 flanges on there and mount turbos. Should be a good setup-lots of room in the truck engine bay. Truck probably has cast manifolds so just pick up some headers and mod em.

flip this upsidown, weld on a t3 flange or get (2) 2.5" 3-bolt flanges, and weld up a short pipe between them connecting them. internal wg or external, i dunno what youre gonna run |

Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
sweet i didnt really think there would be turbo manifolds that would fit and what about the auto tranny how would that hold up to the turbo
|
Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
most domestic auto tranys hold up great to hight hp...
truck tranys are ment to be put under stress so it should take a little boost just fine. |
Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
sweet this sounds like its really doable and not to expensive either so could you ghetto rig some sort of single turbo setup or would it just be better to do twin and if so where would you have the pipes meet for the single turbo what location and i have edelbrock carb do you think it would alright good for boost
any help greatly appreciated |
Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
I've got my eye on those turbo manifolds for the SBC. Once I get moved into my new shop I'm thinking about boosting my '90 Caprice beater if it doesn't sell. It will after I boost it >:D 350 cubic inches of fuel injected goodness...would be perfect for mega-squirt.

Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
single turbo = big ass turbo
twins = 2 smaller ones, cheaper. |
Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
what exatcly is megasquirt
|
Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
megasquirt is a fuel management unit for fuel injected motors, so not something you'll need to look into with your truck. You will, however, need a different carb.

Ahh man, the guy you need to get ahold of is Cadracer on this form.
Twin turbo's on a V8, and your saying " not to expensive " heheheheh >:D FUNNY these aren't hondas that every one in the world makes a part for. This is all custom, The carb is gonna be much , what ever you find make sure it's a blow thru carb, mech. secondaries. V8's don't like boost without an intercooler, 200 $ and up for twin turbo to single outlet, NO motor likes to ping, so you gotta setup a boost referenced timing module ( msd BTM ) 400 $ and this and that minor things like, keeping the power to the ground, without snapping axles. What motor is in your truck ?! The exhaust is all in the easy part, get a set of short, block hugger headers, and turn them upside down, that way, you can run the turbo's directly on the headers, or run the piping to where ever you need http://f9g.yahoofs.com/groups/g_2302...gp16FB9oUJGaRO Cadracer's got the plan down !! i've got a few ideas of my own for this kinda setup too, if you've got the will power and time, we'll help you get this done, and uhh ....welcome to the fourm ;D |
Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
thanks for the info 460 turbo truck and sounds a little expsensive since i would need new car and such what about the turbo manifolds that other guy posted what bout something like that and the truck is lifted up alot 35's with rebuilt 350 with edelbrock carb, intake, headers, exhaust, and crane cam and turbo 350 tranny.

Re: possible twin turbo on 78 chevy truck
they may work, depending on all the frame setups, and personal prefrence on where you want your turbo's to sit,
it isn't cheap, i'll give you that, !! but it kicks a bunch of ass when your done with it !! |
