Popping exhaust...

Popping exhaust...
my exhaust has been popping lately (ever since larger (450cc) injectors, and basemap chip)... Just wondering if this is bad, or not. It pops (mildly) under load, when winding down from higher rpm's.
Dont know what detonation sounds like. but someone told me popping is a sign of detonation... but i would think it means your running rich.

Re: Popping exhaust...
Yeah it's probably all in the tune. If it's popping through the exhaust like a backfire, that is not detonation. Occasionally my own car will let out a firey fart (it's normal) but with some more fuel and possibly ignition tuning I'll be the majority of your situation will be solved.

Yeah, you're just running too much fuel... pthe popping is just the combustion process occuring down the exhaust pipe instead of your engine. Your basemap wasn't designed for N/A... which at higher RPM's your basemap was probably designed to dump extra fuel (for both vacuum or boost). Usually when your given a basemap, it's less aggressive and more on the safe side as far as timing and fuel. For safety, it's better to run a little rich, which it just sounds like you're doing right now.
