Re: pontiac solstice turbo

Yeah it's been done. Pontiac and Saturn did it. Their called the Sostice GXP and Sky Redline. 260 hp and 260 tq.

"Looking more closely at the Borg-Warner dual-scroll turbo, we see where it gets its name: two separate exhaust passages leading from the exhaust manifold to the turbine inlet. "Combined with the VVT on both the intake and exhaust, this is a key element in getting good low-end torque and power at the same time," says GM's Ed Groff. "Typically, if you put a turbocharger on that's large enough to get the power that you want, you would suffer at the bottom end. We have a variety of technologies--the SIDI, the cam phasers, and the dual scroll--that all help the bottom end," says Groff. Thanks to the engineers' efforts, turbo lag is allegedly cut to imperceptible levels, furthered by a lightweight turbine design."

Re: pontiac solstice turbo

and what sort of power does it make? that turbo looks pretty small.

it does have one of the coolest looking exhaust housings i've seen though :-)

I just posted it up. 260 hp and tq. They are pretty pricey though for being a Pontiac and Saturn as they go for between 25-30000 as they just came out in the 2007 lineup.

Re: pontiac solstice turbo

the regular ones go for like 25, the turbo versions (gxp and redlines) start at 28+ but they all seem to be right at 30k here locally. way too much for a GM if you ask me. ::) maybe a used one will be reasonable once its resale value takes a dump.

Re: pontiac solstice turbo

For big power, I'd probably start with a base Solstice.

1st. the GXP is direct injected. How are you going to tune that? On the base all you would have to do is run a standalone or get your hands on of those flashers that they make.

2nd. get the 2.4 get it resleeved, rods and pistons, headstuds and unless they put the lost foam cast head on those, the sky is the limit. If it does come with the lost foam cast head, buy a sand cast off of a saab or something.
