Okay so lets be honest here people. If you dont have one then STFU! If real people poll some truthful ---- then it may help someone decide in the future.

I don't know how their newer ones are doing, but I picked up one of their older t3/to4e's with a little bit of shaft play for less than $50 off a friend. I look at it this way...spend $500 on a brand new garrett or something good like it, or spend $45 for a semi-junk one, send it to blaast, have it redone just as good as the garrett's and still save a few.

Re: Poll for SSAC Turbos!

They don't last.

SSautochrome may have changed supplier because it went bankrupt for quality problems.

Fake turbos, no mather which of the various different chinese manufactures they come from, will remain crap:
They simply don't have the machining and balancing accuracy, proper alloys and heat treatment processes to make it as good as the real thing. If they would, their turbos would last as long as the real thing and they would also cost as much as the real thing. Actually, taking shipping into account, they should cost more.

turbos are full of VERY critical parts rotating at high speeds and that are VERY expensive to produce.
Chinese manufacturers may be able to produce thousands of similar parts at a fraction of the american price with lower quality equipment and workmanship but for such a high precision part, it simply doesn't work...

Example:
If the hole in the thrust collar is not in the absolute CENTER of the part, or if that hole is not 100% parallell to the axis of rotation, the inacuracy of this part sums up with all the other ones to make the rotating assembly out of balance once it's all assembled, even if the individual parts were somewhat balanced separately up front. Just that would be a good enough explanation for their early failures. But there's much more causes.

Re: Poll for SSAC Turbos!

Been running one on the business partners car since May. No problems and no more shaft play then any other turbo I've ran.

Just keep the oil pressure down to the lower side so the seal don't crap on you, but enough to keep the bearings happy too.
