PLUG WATER LINE IN TURBO

I have heard that it is ok to plug the water lines on turbos. I have a Garrett T3 Turbo and it is oil and water cooled. I dont want the water. I was just wondering if it was ok if i just put a small bolt to fill in the drain and fill plugs.

you don't have to plug them if you don't use them, if you're not feeding any water/coolant in to it, there's nothing to leak out ;)

Well i was worried that when the turbo is spooling it might get something up into the turbo. Also i didnt know if it was bad to leave it open beacuse of the bearings inside the turbo! Thanks

you can plug it if it makes you feel safer, but the water cooling housing/jacket whatever is seperate from the vital parts of the turbo.

I left mine open for 4 or 5 months and nothing happened.

Yeah, the coolant passages in the turbo are just a simple path through the center section through which the coolant can flow. There's no major mechanical parts in there or anything than can be fucked up if you leave them completely open. Just remember that if you change your mind and decide to use the coolant passages, than just clean the dirt out and everything will be 100%
