Please Identify this Turbo

I know its an AiResearch T3.
It has an internal Waste Gate (non-adjustable) actuator arm is internal .
Inside the exhuast housing where you mount it to the manifold is stamped "48"
Inside the output to the Intake is stamped "42"
It has a 4 bolt pattern for the down pipe.
How do you determine Trim level ?
What size is this turbo(.42/.48 ?) and what car may this have been taken from.
Thanks

Re: Please Identify this Turbo

yep!

It's from the Mercedes 300 diesel.

It's a T3 with a 0.48 a/r stage 1 turbine and a 45 trim 0.42 a/r compressor.
turbine flange is Standard T3 but that integrated wastegate, although it works good, is a bitch if you can't locate it in your setup.
There's no dynamic seal on this model if I remember well. it's a carbon seal.

Do you mean clearance from the block ??

Re: Please Identify this Turbo

If you are making a custom manifold and account for that weird shape from the start, you will be fine.
I don't know your application But if you are using an aftermarket manifold, the big chunk created by that integrated wastegate may very well interfere with something under your hood!!! (rad fans, block or who knows what else)
As opposed to a conventional removable wastegate actuator, this one will stay there. But otherwise, that's a very generic T3 turbo. Be Carefull though. It's good for no more than 150HP with this tiny compressor.

I used to upgrade them into t3-t4 turbos, look:

i have this exact same turbo i took off of a mercedes 300d 78 ...

It is currently on my honda accord boosted at 7psi , it works great but has oil leak from the inside .. since its a turbo diesel rebuild is a good idea , i didnt and have to remove it once again.
