Please check out my setup and let me know..

Hey folks what's up?

I've had my civic (98 DX) for a couple years now and it's time to boost the fucker. I've been researching for a couple months now and I think I have a pretty good grasp on it. I find it interesting how wide a variety of homemade turbo set ups you run into.

So here is mine. Let me know if I'm good to go, or if I need to go back to research. ;)

HF or STD manifold

t25 or 14b turbo (havn't decided yet - will probably come down to price - 6 psi)

D16y8 intake manifold swap

Vortech FMU - 12:1

255 lph fuel pump

Stock injectors

2-step colder spark plugs

MSD 6-AL ignition with soft touch rev limiter set at 6800 rpms (remember, stock d16y7 here)

Missing Link

Charge pipes and FMIC

1G DSM BOV (for now...I would like to get an HKS later)

2.5" downpipe

high flow cat

2.5" exhaust pipes

Boost gauge & EGT gauge

Later down the road: boost controller, turbo timer, new clutch.

I think that about covers it; I'm pretty sure I didn't forget anything. So what does everything think? Is it too much for 6 psi? Not enough?

To me the fuel and spark management seems like more than enough to maybe even go up to 7 psi.

Any feedback whatsoever would be ------- killer.

thanks in advance!

Michael

does anybody have an opinion here, or is my idea so badass it doesn't need any pointers? ::)

I somehow doubt it...

It will be fine for 6 psi.

unless i am missing somthing how are you retarding the timing?????? If I remember the 6al comes with soft bushings and rev limiter but i see nothing about timing retarding.....

Re:Please check out my setup and let me know..

I'm not retarding the timing. When I said "spark management" I meant the 2 step colder plugs, and the fact that the MSD ignition eases off ignition when the soft touch rev limiter is in effect.

Or are you saying I should retard the timing??

Well if you can afford it get some larger injectors and the afc hack. It will allow you to boost more safely. I was thinking about an FMU/fuel pump setup at first, but then decided to go with the afc and larger injectors instead. It's not really that much more and I will be able to tune it as well.

that msd will ease off timing ONLY at the rev limit.. you atleast need to retard timing from the dizzy.

Re:Please check out my setup and let me know..

so should I look into scrapping the FMU/fuel pump for larger injectors and AFC hack then?

Should I keep the MSD with this setup or is it a waste of money? What's a good way to retard the timing?

Oh and one other thing..what the hell is "dizzy"? I've seen all kinds of people using this word here, but In all of my research on the internet I've never seen this word used. :-[
