Default Plastic Charge Piping

Why doesnt anyone use plastic charge piping?
I know that some PVC pipes let out toxic fumes under temperature, but I'm sure there is some clean plastic that can be used.

I'm thinking it would be much cheaper and it wouldnt soak in heat as fast.

But I'm sure there is a major con in the idea, right?

There have been some people who have used PVC pipe as charge pipes...

I think the plastic can melt, and when it heats up it takes a while to cool down...

I don't remember all of the cons to it, there was just a thread about this a few days ago...

Ive heard that pvc is ok for the charge pipe after the intercooler. Just get something else from the turbo to the intercooler

retains the heat longer.
people have used it just fine.

words from experience, DO NOT use them rear the turbo! they melt.. oh and dont use pvc use abs

works fine , i used vacuum hose that i found on the street
free and it works , not directly off the turbo tho haha .
but if thats all u got then yeh , just use a bit of radiator hose for the 1st 20-30cm off the turbo .
myne never melt , yes it works and its free but ive since then upgraded.

Depends on the ammount of boost your going to be runing and your manifold design it would help if you mentioned all the info.
In out exp. if your not going to be crossig 10psi. HM Log manifold with a HM heat sheild. FIrst 100cm radiator hose it works. Temps never cross 99 deg c.
But why not use GI water pipe. Dirt cheap and no danger of melting.

Well, Sitar hit 680 whp with the slicks spinning on the dyno rollers at 18 psi. I guess that's the limit. Of traction anyway.

I ran PVC for 15K miles. I ran a piece of Saab (metal) charge pipe for the first foot away from the compressor, then PVC. It deformed minutely at the entry, so let's say it shouldn't be used for the first ~14-15" after the compressor for best results. My only complaint about it? It attracts dirt within fifteen seconds and starts looking like ----.

I ran ABS from about 12" off of the compressor. ABS started right above the exhaust housing, so my RUBBER coupler melted quite frequently. the duct tape helped a little.

ABS front mount pipe was awesome too. so was mounting my dsm bov to a straight section of the ABS. the pipe cement held boost fine.

I prefer not to use thin plastic to hold air at up to 2 bar pressure at over 100°C
