Re: painting a turbo?

Not with the high heat engine enamel that you would usually get at the local hardware store. Your best best is to take off your turbine housing and have it professionally ceramic coated, or you can buy some extra high heat paint that will hold up to the temperatures. You will most likely have to special order it from somewhere. I forgot what it's called, but someone else will probably post with some more info.

I think Jon's got the best idea with the cermanic coat or something professional, but I belive that VHT is (or makes) brake caliper paint which is good to like, I don't know, 900 degreees. I think that's the highest I have seen. It's like $7.XX a can, so it's more than engine paint and more temperature durable. Still, I don't think that's gonna cut it. Like someone stated above (props to you) it's like 1200 degrees in that area of the turbo. That's hot. Look around I guess.

VHT makes a 1300-2000 degree paint, try it, it might hold

otherwise try bbq paint.

powder coating isn't paint it is powder that is attached with static electricity and baked on. i have never heard of it changing color maybe you friend had crazy high egts or it wasn't coated properly

one of these rattle can companies have an engine paint that has some ceramic in the mix. I forgot what it's called, but I have 2 cans in the garage. Say what, go out there and see what the brand is? ---- that it's 2 in the morning, you'll have to wait and see if I remember that I posted in this thread whenever that is.
