Painting My IC Black...
 

I was just using Rust-O-Leum nothing too heavy, but I was curious if it affected the IC's performance any. Does the paint make it work less effectivly? How much if so? Thanks guys!

Black attracts heat. That's the only thing I've ever heard that made any sense.

True, but when driving air is hitting it and its in the bumper like 6 inches from the ground. I don't know yet. I was searching and heard about radiator paint actually helps transfer the heat away. Or black pantyhose. That's a good idea there.

just leave it...front mounts are sexy and you will never be able to concinve someone that your car isnt turbo anyway once you go for a drive

I never heard this before, but it sounds pheasable (sp).

the only way the black paint would harm the efficiency of the intercooler was if you globbed it up in the fins that allow the air to pass through. otherwise it should be fine.

Painted today. I'll post pics tomarrow. Looks really good. 100x better I think. I'm actually happy I did it. Dad was like "Paint dem couplers too. There blue! They'll dem things!". Buddy said no. I didn't care. I didn't paint them. I'll post pics tomarrow. Thanks for all the input guys!

I painted my jrc 5" black and I think its a bunch of BS that people argue about whether it hurts performance or not. How thick is your front mount? How much paint did you have to use? All your doing is painting the face of it, Your not dipping the whole thing in.

I don't want to spray paint them. There really good couplers. I would rather find black ones. Or Kain suggested black cardboard and black zip ties around it.

Looks great to me. Looks like a huge radiator from the outside for those who know ---- about intercoolers. if your going with the sleeper look get some black couplers cause those blue ones are a dead give away. ;)

YEA!!!!! Good idea. Not everything just the couplers. Nice. Find some black couplers too. If I spray them then when you tighten it down the screws will probably peel the paint.

Make the trip down here and you can help all you want. LOL. It's the Father-Son project so when it's done we'll meet up at like Century III Mall or somewhere in Pittsburgh so we both don't have to drive too far. If that IS middle between you and me. Oh yea, I might just bring my Mom's van to race. It DOES have a wing, gotta be fast. Send me those mad JDM tyte pics y0!
