Painted IC black. (pics)
After having my IC painted black once, the paint started turning blotchy white in places. (didnt prep well)
So I resprayed it with some left over silver. Looked ok, but I wanted black. This time it turned out much better. Re:Painted IC black. (pics)
what kind of black spray did you use? just your regular black spray paint in a can?
Looks great! |

Re:Painted IC black. (pics)

Re:Painted IC black. (pics)
that is two T-bird Supercoupe intercoolers welded together.
looks good Dave!!! very sleeper, infact it looks like you just cut out theplastic stats in the bumper thats it (the joint peice between the cores looks like a rad. core support). nice job! |
Re:Painted IC black. (pics)
my only question is "does painting it effect the cooling efficency of the ic"?
|
Re:Painted IC black. (pics)
does it effect your radiator??? dont think it makes a noticable diff....
|
Re:Painted IC black. (pics)
is your bumper still held up with zip ties :P
|
Re:Painted IC black. (pics)
'custom' zip ties.....hehehe
Painting affecting IC effeciency? Really doubt it, only the front is painted, not the internals which is where the cooling (heat transfer) takes place. I used 'aircraft remover', its safe for aluminum. Glob it on, let it sit for like 30mins and wash it off. It took 3times and a tooth brush on some areas. The stock 'plastic' like coating is a bitch. I datalogged some short runs today, and ambient was around 67-70. None of my runs peaked over 85 (IAT) manifold temp. When sitting, the charge pipes/mani do heat soak a bit. (saw around 100-110 when in traffic) As soon as I go WOT for a length of time the temps drop instantly. Here is how my GhettoCooler compares to a Tyrus: http://a9.cpimg.com/image/FB/EF/1873...-014000F0-.jpg http://a0.cpimg.com/image/1A/F0/1873...-014000F0-.jpg My roomate said "Dont ------- post this on internet": lol, big baby. :P http://a2.cpimg.com/image/1C/F0/1873...-014000F0-.jpg Everythings gonna be OK Doi. ;D |
