Default paint that can withstand heat of turbo mani?

guys i'll be looking for a paint(Preferably black) that will be able to withstand the temperatures of the turbo manifold. i've heard 1200 paint burns off in about a week.

is there anything else i can try?

thank you for your help!

i bought a paint from jc whitney that has help up awsome.
i painted the entire turbo except for the compressor housing which was aluminum and would'nt rust, and the turbo manifold. it's the stainless steel one. it's $25.00 a pint. it doesn't come in a spray, it comes in a small paint can.

I use POR 15 paint, I use this paint from my manifolds or anything else that I need protection from high heat source. Yeah, they kind of pricey but will out last any of those spray paint crap. This is also a brush on, no spraying on. Painted my ----, a month ago and ---- still hasn't burnt off yet. Here is the site I got mines from. http://www.por15.com/

how about powdercoating? idk if thats heat resistant at all.

anyone else have experience with the above mentioned products(jcwhitney, por-15, eastwood)?

powder coat wouldnt work, u would need it to be a ceramic coating.

^^ ah ok. i don't know much about powder coating..just that its supposed to be tougher than regular paint.. but that i guess doesn't mean heat resistant.

ne one else?

if I had a dedicated oven I would powdercoat everything. Gives a great shine and makes whatever the item easier to clean and offers greater scratch resistance. The process takes a certain level of heat to "cure" the item after it has been introduced by ionic force.

I believe the issue you will have is after introducing more heat then what the powder resin cures at it will start to chemically break down.. "melt" so to speak and eventually turn solid after cooling. The chemicals used in the process are very efficient as in they won't vaporized but just change form temporarily with high amounts of heat.

I have seen many things powdercoated and ran just fine like the block of an air cooled harley show bike, alternators and such, and I think maybe even the compressor housing of a turbo (I can't say for sure right now).

Powder coating will not work for the exhaust housing on the turbo, ceramic coating will be your best option.

If you want to discuss powder coating more I can provide additional pieces of info.

hmm. do you know more about ceramic coating? is that very costly? right now i think the only thing i would really need coated is the mani. maybe the downpipe. idk, can you coat any part of the turbo compressor?

thanks again
