Default overheating only on the freeway under no boost

here is what it does. when i am driving at about 65-70 mph or faster for a while my temp gauge will rise even when i am not in boost. if i open the heater core the temp will slowly drop to normal. my car does not overheat no matter how hard i drive when i am not on the freeway. i have a turbo gsr in a vx hatch. i have the spoon temp switch and thermostat. do i just need a aftermarket radiator or could i have a problem elsewhere??

does it start overheating if you let it sit idle in your driveway?

still think its the headgasket.

no the only time it will overheat is on the freeway with no boost at about 65-70 mph.

that's odd.

a completely stock honda cooling system should have zero problem cooling a basic hmt turbo setup. I'd suggest starting small and easy. Replace the t-stat, and rad cap. If the problem persists, then look back to your headgasket.

do a compression test, if its not your hg do what turboda6 said and hook up your radiator fan to switch, or if your cheap hook it up to your radio fuse :P one side of my radiator is completly toast (bent fins) from my last turbo setup, it used to overheat untill i started using the radiator fan constantly. It used to go up to 230 degrees now it stays around 165-175 with an OEM therostat! They work miracles
