Over heating when cruising.
 

So, seems ever since i got a 1/2 radiator on my setup its over heating when im on the highway. speed limit is 70, im doin 70 and about i donno 30 min of steady driving, i start heating up past half heat. its got am oem 170 degree thermostat. i tried doing a 60/40 ration of water to coolant. i even got a new slim fan do i could mount it as a push fan. so now, there is plenty or air flow to it and the only thing close to it is my dump tube. but im not even in boost doin 70 in 5th gear.

im out of ideas. its a brand new del slow radiator. only thing i havent tried, is water wetter. but its not like im racin, just cruisin.

hmm, guess i can check it. i can just leave the cap off while its running for a min and it will burp itself. or should i bleed it from the thermostat housing.

When the car is cold try parking on a ramp, so that the rad cap is higher than any other part of the cooling system. Then take off the cap and turn the car on. Now as far as the overheating, from what I understand the biggest issue with the halfrad is that there's a huge hole right next to it and air just goes around it, rather than through it.

I usually let it idle with the cap off til its hot and the thermostat opens... Top it off with more water here and there if it needs it. Once engine is hot and the fan cycles open thermostat bleed screw until nothing but coolant comes out. Maybe 20 seconds tops.. Tighten it back up then add more water if it needs it and put cap back on

I also wired my fan to just stay on all the time - I dont give a ----. If you're sure the radiator and thermostat work good, it could be in the tune. Is it tuned?

That's not a very good solution. Hell I run no fan in Cali and I never overheat unless I hit stop and go traffic. At anything over 20 mph the airflow should be enought to cool it.

No solution, just as an extra precaution... Sitting in traffic the temp starts to rise over what the thermostat wants it to be, by, who knows maybe 10 degrees? Then the fan comes on and it heats up again. Annoying.. Also with the fan on constantly it helps reduce underhood temps (which are pretty damn high with a turbo under there)

a better solution is a manual fan switch
i got one hooked up through the fan relay
when i hit stop traffic or use it as a turbo timer i just throw on the switch
it also has a light so i dont forget its on :6

I have my fan come on with my ignition. seems like the thermostat is sticking. Its tuned with crome. a good tune.
