Opinions needed on intercooler install *UPDATE*

Alright, I'm trying to put an intercooler on my Civic, its basically mounted but only tack welded cause I'm unsure if it looks like ----.

The bumper was already fucked up when I got the car and I hacked it up a little with my old setup. Now the question is weather to ---- it and leave it the way it is or cut up the support and angle it back some. I don's have the front lights but thats where the intercooler piping is going to go so it'll look a little more complete with piping.

I would say to try and move it back a little bit more if you can.. just looks like it will get destroyed being out that far..

what are you using for shielding gas? Is that a 20 pound tank of CO2?

Reddy 08-17-2004 06:28 PM

Re:Opinions needed on intercooler install

Argon/CO2 mix. It sits flush with the front bumper, I'm not worried about it getting fucked up I just want it to look semi-decent

Re:Opinions needed on intercooler install

that's an odd looking argon tank.. is it 40 cf?

Usually I see them a lot thicker and shorter.

I knew I'd get the truth from HMT.

I don't want to take the core support out but I'll modify it.

I knew it looked like ---- but I just wanted to bolt it on and say ---- it. Finished product comming up....

Re:Opinions needed on intercooler install

It looks like you kicked the ---- out of your bumper and screwed an intercooler onto the wreckage.

I know yours is a bit bigger than mine(only in this situation will I ever say that), but I got mine to fit pretty damn good.

Re:Opinions needed on intercooler install

My front bumper is so fucked up that no matter what I do it'll probably look like ---- and I also don't have the front lights either. :-\construction is underway, I tried cutting and modifying the stock support, got about a quarter of the way through so I'm making a custom support.

Stay tuned for the finished product.

Also, if I was smart I would take down the pics so people wounldn't make fun of me but I'll leave them for your enjoyment

OMG my ------- welding wire is contaminated and I can't ------- weld anything. >:( >:( I gotta wait till tomorrow to finish this ----------er.

So anybody out there with a welder, take the wire out of the machine so it doesn't go ------- bad >:(

Okay 3 things

1) That just screams "STEAL ME, STEAL ME!!"

2) I don't think that will exactly go with the "sleeper" look.

3) It's ------ ugly. Cut the support and put it inside the bumper and you're fine.

Reddy 08-17-2004 10:05 PM

Re:Opinions needed on intercooler install

ok, this is as far as I can go tonight without a welder so don't mind the tie wraps :P I made a custom support and this is the best its going to look with the front bumper as hacked up as it is.

Right Click save as "WhiteystyleIC.jpg"

I like how there's a "Whitey Style" everything; bends and intercoolers and twin turbo Honda's. I guess the Whitey style bumper is to remove as much as possible of it. ;)

Remember, this is a work in progress but there's definitely going to be more things that you can right click save as to make fun of me for later comming soon, including my supercool front support 8)...

I was going to order one of these intercoolers for my 94 Civic EX. It looks like a lot of stress to mount it without taking out the bumper support. I don't want to take mine out either. Seems like the 30X5X2 is my best option.

Thanks for the pictures.
