Opinions On My Project..

Hey im sure everything im giong to say has been discussed before but i thought i would just blab my whole project and get your opinions..

I got a 1992 Honda Civic LX for free and decided to turn it into a homemade project (dont want to spend too much money on it). I believe the engine is the D16A7 (correct me if im worng), i plan on rebuilding it (new rings, bearings and thick gaskets to lower compression). Im also going to convert it from ATX to 5-speed...as far as turbos go though..i read that i could use the HF, Std, or Cx/Vx manifold and weld the flange from the turbo on...im looking for a quick spooling turbo, im only going to run about 8 psi...i was thinking the probe/626/mx6 turbo and was wondering if it was oil AND water cooled.

i was wondering if i need to buy and aftermarket fuel regulator, do i need any engine management systems if im just running low boost..can i just trick the map sensor...and do i need a boost controller or can i just adjust the wastegate....also will i need a different fuel injector

sorry for blabbing on and on...theres just so much to think about it gets a little confusing :-\...thanks

low boost or high boost get some managment and i believe it is both oil and water cooled

supposedly a check valve for the map sensor and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator will work for up to 8psi of boost. I think the turbo you are using has a stock wastegate setting of 7 or 8 psi, so you shouldn't need a boost controller if you plan on staying at that level. Your stock injectors should be okay up to that point too. For insurance you may want to get a better in tank fuel pump though, they are easy to replace on that year Civic. If you are rebuilding the engine and getting a thicker headgasket, you could probably get away with 10-11 lbs of boost though. Just use better fuel management and a manual boost controller.

Thanks, yeah i was planning on replacing the pump since the car is in pieces anyway...if i use another turbo ill run 10 intercooled, buy new injectors but same size, regulator and i should be cool..i think
