It can hold more, just wont last long ;)
but if you want it to last, 8 is that max i've heard
might get 9 or 10 if your up for a HMT alchy injection kit :)

Edit: True

im gonna say true but with the exception that more can be run, just probably not reliably or for very long

Re:only 8 psi on 90 d16

how much boost is the wrong question to ask...you should be asking how much power.

Well 8psi is a lot different on a t-25 vs. a T88.... Its all about tunning... You can run 8psi on a stock a6, but are you talking about doing a mini-me? If so, the compression can be quite high, depending on what HG you use ect. but there is a compression calculator floating around somewhere, do a search and see what you come up with.

dont worry about it d series parts are dime a dozen :-*, and yea id have to agree its all about how ya tune it., im waitin to get all my stuff together for my mini-me turbo setup, compression was on my mind until i talked to a few guys on here that told me i should be fine runnin like 9-10 stock internals tuned with uberdate

Quit encouraging the noob by giving him psi numbers, that has almost nothing to do with anything. >:(

chill out and realize that you are wrong.

now...realize that too much power and/or poor tuning are what make your stock parts break, not the boost level. Stock d-series ---- has been known to hold really high numbers (like 300hp jan-style), but the generally accepted number for a motor to last at all is like 220-230 whp before the rods give out. have a nice day

everyone responded so nicely..and yet he freaks out... like they said..check your c/r and look at your d series rods...that should give you an idea of what they can handle
