One of those there wtf kinda turbo is this threads
A while back a freind of mine bought this turbo off ebay. The add said it was a t3 but its not. We think it may be a t28 of some kind but have no idea. I took some pics of it next to a turbonetics t3/t04e. It defently has a large t3 or small t4 comp housing on it. The inlet flange is slightly smaller than a standard t3. anyone know wtf it is? Here are the #s from the id tag:

what is the number stamped on the inside of the outlet on the compressor housing? it looks like a .63/.60 T3 to me

Its definitely some kind of garrett t25/28 turbine housing. It could be some type of hybrid made by a turbo rebuilding company. Looks pretty sweet though.

If I was to guess, I'd say either an S-trim or V-trim t04b compressor custom-mated to a T25 turbine housing (non-OEM turbine wheel). All they have to do is line up the backplate bolts to the chra, then machine the backplate to get the compressor & housing at the right level. Measure the inducer and exducer of both wheels and someone will tell you what it is. Hopefully its a stg2 or stg3 exhaust turbine like I think it is...
That would make for some nice spool & mid-range on a 1.6-1.8L motor. :y |
