Re:OMG *nuts pants*

nod nod, lingenfelter makes some of the fastest cars in the world. his twin turbo (stock engine, 700+hp) corvettes always win the horsepower challange everyyear.. .something like the last 4 years in a row...

pbwiz 02-17-2003 09:08 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

Lingenfelter is the MAN... plain and simple. Anybody else see the video of one of his vettes racing an f-18 Hornet? It beat the jet 0-60 and in the standing 1/4... all while remaining emissions legal :o.

ZCHF 02-18-2003 02:52 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

beating a f28 hornet to 60 doesnt mean too much, as i remember it was just a funny comparision, but i saw that clip. i believe it does something like low 9's and is street driven. pretty cool though. for the price(160,000) i would just but a modena and trick that out, and then i'd be a baller!!!!. just my thoughts

Johnyquest 02-18-2003 06:11 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

yeah, THAT specific one was 160k. go to www.lingenfelter.com

he will give your 'vette like 800 horsies in his 'production' (not custom, like the one in the vid) for less than 50k.

I beleive the entire package (vette + lingenfelter) comes to a few 1000 under 100k.

Not bad, considering it's well beyond a porche in every aspect for a price a few thousand less. I've seen new 911's go for $113k and they just can't be compared...

Vettes are the ultimate car! ;D

http://www.geocities.com/johnyquest123/z06.html
that's me driving a zo6 w/ 6mi on it. still had the plastic wrap on it. I'll never forget that day!

Dumbkid 02-18-2003 06:24 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

and the best thing on the lingenfelter kits is they come with a warranty for your car! ;D

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

So... What would a 92' DSM AWD with $100K invested into it do to a vette ??? Any vette ??? Out handle, out accel., out stop, and get better gas mileage..

Less put the fact that I hate vettes aside... For the money there are many better options..

Vette = mid-life chrisis or rich parents..

LS-1 gets much respect from me, but not the car that caused GM's greatest cars to be sacrificed so it could stay alive.. Buick Grand national, Syclone, and the camaro ( I don't blame GM for axeing the F-body, I know there reasons behind it. )

Both the syclone and Turbo regals DESTROIED the vette !! And with a few small mods the whipping gets even worse. The syclone out did the vette in everyway, so they killed it..

The 50th Aniv. vette is a joke, 50 years of making a "sports car" and the best they can do is put a damn sticker on the side and charge $8K more !!!

Z06 gets the most respect of any vette ( even though the viper is a better choice at that price level ), but it'll still be chasing my stealth till 165mph, when I "top out" b/c of drag...

pbwiz 02-18-2003 06:58 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

165... you still runnin 9b's?

J-SMITH69 02-18-2003 08:25 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

god huntchback you're living in a dream world, those lingenfelter corvettes are totally street legal, emissions legal, all stock except they do a little to the suspension and of course the twin turbos. if you modded out a eclipse like you said to be that fast, it wouldn't be street legal, or street drivable OR emissions legal.

IT WOULD BE AN IMPORT DRAGSTER NOT A STREET CAR

you're stuck on the 80s vettes which were all dogs, the new generation of corvettes are the ultimate driving machines, nothing can touch them

get a grip dude, corvettes WIN THE HORSEPOWER CHALLANGE EVERY YEAR. and that competition is for everything about the car. handling braking acceleration top speed, EVERYTHING. lingenfelter corvette wins every year.

btw corvette z06
$49,505.00
LS6 OHV engine
5.7l
5665cc
hydrolic roller lifters
405hp @ 6000rpm
torque 400@ 4800rpm
redline 6500rpm
cutoff 6600rpm
71hp per liter
0-60 3.9
1/4 12.45
top speed 171mph
gets better gas mileage than a v6 NSX and whoops its ass in every aspect

http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/pics/ls6-frontside.jpe
http://www.crpud.net/~jbliss/pics/ls6-render.jpe

btw johnnyquest, thats awesome you got to drive one, my father has a friend with one, it has headers and a k&n filter and its a 12sec car on street tires... did you like the HUD?

LPE 427ci twin turbo corvette, with M/T street legal slicks
WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 8.95@153.6 :o

thats a street legal car, street drivable.

beat that in an eclipse. NEVER!

unless its an all out million dollar dragster!

keep reachin for that rainbow hunchback! :P

turboboy 02-18-2003 08:51 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

how much would that car cost though

J-SMITH69 02-18-2003 08:52 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

just a sec i'llget the price...

z06 corvette $49,505.00
427ci 725bhp 650ft-lbs torque

Professional installation, testing and PCM recalibration
LPE's 2 year / 24,000 mile warranty

$49,995.00

all together almost 100 grand. but thats less than slow ass lamborginis (spelling) or porsches.

i'll garentuee you'd die in that vette before you got beat in a race, at the track or on the street.

btw i'm a terrible speller.

J-SMITH69 02-18-2003 09:02 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

keyword race car

i just looked at that car and its a total funny car dragster, and a stock looking street car with M/T street legal SLICKS CAN ALMOST BEAT A $500,000 DOLLAR PLUS FUNNY CAR? embarssing.

lingenfelter & 2003 z06 corvette = best performing street car in the world, in everyaspect????

ZCHF 02-18-2003 09:59 PM

BUSCHAR ECLIPSE

first of all that thing isnt even an eclipse. thats a fully built mitsu drag car, rear wheel drive tube frame disaster. wtf. eclipse people take ---- to the heart. anyway that buschar car is as close to an eclipse as the lingenfelter is to a 4 sec funny car with a corvette bosy on it. give me a break. compare apples with apples. eclipses are overrated.

ZCHF 02-18-2003 10:00 PM

turboboy 02-18-2003 10:02 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

ok then look down the list a little at the stock body cars...this is how ill end it...dollar for dollar (im talking used), eclipses for the most part cant be beat for the amount of speed they have with little mods...that said, i own a civic and a 3000gt

J-SMITH69 02-18-2003 10:06 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

eclipses are just like any other ~2 liter turbocharged cars. there isn't anything special about them. of course you can turn the boost up, then you can put in rods and pistons, but you can do that to any engine. there isn't anything special about eclipses.

pbwiz 02-18-2003 10:07 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

Motor Trend May 1997 VR4 top speed:155.7, this is the second gen model with the six speed and upped boost from the factory... maybe the earlier five speeds with lower boost pull a higher top end, but I haven't seen it, if so please show me... no flame intended, I would just like to see it.

ZCHF 02-18-2003 10:13 PM

dollar for dollar maybe

my roommate has a 90 gsx and he started off with that dollar for dollar crap and look at him. he bought his car minus an engine for 1750, engine 1100, awd tranny rebuild 1000, afc 300, 16g turbo 600, boosting 15 psi and hes fairly smart when it comes to tuning eclipses, and he ran a ------- 14.4. My friend with a stock sr20det in his 240 beat him @ 14.0. not i dont know how out of tune this is but ----, i could make a honda dollar for dollar that could beat that.

ill find it sometime tonight...i think theres an elctronic limiter....ive hit 145 in 4th gear in my '91 and it was pulling hard as hell so i know 155 isnt all it has....and as far as the 14 sec car with a 16g, something is seriously wrong with that car or with the install work

turboboy 02-18-2003 11:13 PM

Re:OMG *nuts pants*

ok im a loser i cant find it....but from my experience it'll go way past 155...we'll see once the two feet of snow goes away

True, but their is nothing special about that pushrod V8 that has been around for a million years either..

You guys are comparing apples and oranges... This thread is done..
