The pre drain reservoir is a good idea. Why not welding a bunch of cooling fins on that reservoir while we're at it??!?!?

Me I am using a transmission cooler from a FORD powerstroke on the turbo inlet line. That way at least, fresh oil comes to the turbo all the time.

I'm using a PermaCool Sandwich adaptor and a 24"x2" cooler between my intercooler and rad. Looks stock where it sits from under the hood.

Before that I had no problems and most guy don't do anything. It's just added assurance. Do you have a temp gauge, how do you know it's too hot?

Initally we would see 125c on the oil gauge and shut the engine off to let it cool.
Ading an oil cooler is an option. But we didnt go that route.
If your oil is over heating its safe to asume your watter is over heating also.

Here are some tips.
1. Use a Turbo that has both oil and water. Water passing thru the turbo makes a huge diffirence to oil temps.

2. Increase the size of your radiator. Most radiator shops will build you a new radiator same size and mounting as the old one but with one extra core.

3. Install a Intercooler and hood scoop / make sure the intercooler is geting good air.

Now the oil temps never climb past 90c. And watter neaver passes the half way mark.

You could also visit the junk yard and pick up an oil cooler off a motor cycle and hook it up.

I'm using a slip on finned cooler that goes over the oil filter.
There is a guy on ebay that sells them for $9 You have to trim some parts to clear the can and oil fitting. It's aluminum so it's easy to work with.
