oil sender tee broke in the block!

Well, kinda….

I have the stealthmode T3 oil line kit...but there was some clearance issues on the back of the D16A1 block where the oil restrictor goes, so I bought an extension to make life easier. However, the extension was too long as I figured, but I didn’t know I had other alternatives since my car was stuck at a friends house, and I needed to get it home.

Anyway while driving today, I noticed I was loosing a lot of oil. It turns out that the extension first cracked then broke at the threads when I was investigating the problem. I’m guessing it broke from leverage and engine vibration. I got the right extension I needed, but first I need to remove the part of thread that’s still in the block…but I don’t want to have to pull the engine to get to it.

I did try to jam a screwdriver in there to see if I can thread it out, but it didn’t work. I’m also trying to JB weld the screw diver in there so I can try to screw it out (or use vice grips on that to get it to turn) Anybody else have any ideas to get it out if the JB weld doesn’t work? Is pulling the engine to get it out my only other choice? Any help is appreciated.

Thanx.

Extensions off the back of the block are a very bad idea, most end in needing to weld on the block, or tap/ream the feed larger which just makes that area weaker.

yeah...I was told to use an easy out, but can I use one with the engine still in the car? I didn’t think I would have enough space...but I've never had to do this before.

Also, let the HMT records show that extension on the back of the block is a very bad idea...especially a long one!!

I'll let you guys know what I end up doing.

thanx for the help guys. O0

hahaa, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. ;)

So, easy out is the way to go, good to know that this will make this a breeze.
Im going to pull the engine anyway since I need to put in my new clutch and to learn a thing or 2. O0

Now, I need to goto Sears and buy some more tools. O0
