Oil send lines
 

I was wondering what the differences are between getting the oil from the oil pressure sending unit on the back of the block or getting it right from the back of the oil pump?

It's a ZC D16 series block and the fittings I have are from the Apexi D series kit but there is not much room next to the oil breather and I have a fitting from Z10 that I can tap a line from the back of the oil pump with.

All suggestions welcome.

Has anyone tapped the oil pump directly for the feed line here? Or has everyone just used the oil pressure send unit?

Seems to me that the oil pump hookup is a bit cleaner and should get oil quicker to the turbo.

?

through out all the years turbo's have been around, i've never heard of anybody putting it to the oil pump!? ??? even big drag racers know to put it to the oil sensor on the block.....it must be for a reason, so just put it on the block!!

Well it may be true that you haven't seen it but I know that Z10 has sold around 2,000 of these fittings (so they say) and someone is doing it, somewhere....

The fitting I am talking about fits right on the oil pumps discharge port which is pre-oil pressure send unit on the flow chain.

Is it filtered??? I have considered these fittings but decided if its coming right out of the oil pump it probably has not passed through the oil filter. Id be worried about what may try and pass through my turbos bearings. The oil sending unit is a fine source and has way more than enough pressure for any turbo, the only worry is having too much pressure.

I was reading some post on TurboD16 and there was a guy who used a spot on his head. It is right next to the distributor and is plugged with a bolt that has a hex head. I am getting ready to install and know I don't know which spot I should put it in. The one on the head is obviously the easiest. Someone let me know if they've heard of this or not.

Just about anyone will tell you that the spot you are thinking of on the head is not ideal or worse. The oil sending unit on the back of the block or straight from the oil pump if there is room behind the altenator. I would guess that 95% of turbo oil feed lines are coming T'd off the oil sending unit.

I was just trying to avoid the T fitting and the oil pump is used by a few people I have now found.
