Default Oil Return line Q

Ok with my T3 the oil drain points directly at the block and it smokes (I think the turbo is shot... and the drain doesnt help) its a little kinked. If i got a brass 90* fitting from the hardware store and got rid of the kink, is it ok to have the oil drain pointing sideways like that or does it have to be pointing down? Im just wondering so when I get the new turbo it wont smoke like it does now.

Thats the only way to fix it.The return is garvity fed to the pan.I would say clock it down at least a few degrees. It doesnt have to be directly pointing down.

it should be pointing down with at most a 15 degree variable in either direction
