oil return idea!

can i run an oil return line back to the oil pressure sensor. i cant do a gravity return because my turbo has to be mounted low. any other ideas?

Re:oil return idea!

just mount some kind of pump after the return line & lead the line into the oil pan. I don't know what pump but if you do some reasearch on pumps I'm sure you'll find a good one cause you don't realy need it to be realy powerful since the original force for the oil return was suppose to be gravity fed. -just a thought ::)

your turbo is going to be sitting lower than the oil pan? as long as the pan inlet is lower than the return outlet it should be ok.

you would need to rig up some kinda sump pump setup.

Yeah, lol.. just go to the oil pan, it will save you some trouble. The turbo sits like less than a foot away from the pan anyway.

.. how low are you going???

Re:oil return idea!

Its going pretty low cause I wan't to save my a/c and theres barely any room to spare under there. I was also thinking of a pump but does anyone know who makes an electric one with 100% duty cycle IS THERE ANY REASON WHY i CAN'T RUN A LINE BACK TO MY OIL PRESSURE SENSOR?!!!!!!!!!

Re:oil return idea!

why dont you just make an entirely seperate oil system for the turbo, with its own electric pump, filter and lines?

Re:oil return idea!

BECAUSE THATS WHERE YOU FEED THE TURBO WITH OIL FROM,so it will probably build up pressure, and bow something. just do it easy way(only way).

Ya know, that's a good idea.. changing oil would be easier wow.. sounds good but I think it would be required to have an oil cooler because there would be less oil the turbo is using.. I think the oil would get extremely hot.

go to a marine or boat shop. they sell pumps you could use to pump the oil back to the pan or where every you want to return it to. guys use them on turbo charged bikes. forget the excact name for the pump but it should work. they are normally bout $80-$200 bucks depending on the size and how much it needs to pump

Re:oil return idea!

u cant run the return back to the oil pressure fiting because it has 0 pressure after the bearings in the turbo.

Re:oil return idea!

I know it's sorta been answered, but I'll give it again in another way.
...you cannot tee the return to the oil pressure fitting because it is under pressure. meaning it'll 'push' oil toward the turbo just like the oil inlet line.
There will be no flow through the turbo.
IF you are thinking ' well why not? the oil goes in one side and out the other side. It would do that if the turbo wasn't there anyway"
you have to realize that the turbo 'oil bearings' will really restrict the flow

...now if you want to just 'tap' inline for water cooling that's ok since the water/coolant will just flow through the turbo. .

Re:oil return idea!

what about a sandwich adapter for an oil cooler. it has an inlet and outlet then some sort of pump to pump the oil back up from the return.

sounds like more effort than it's worth, but if you can't rotate your turbo to fit with ac or get a manifold that will allow you to still use your turbo and ac together.

Dubmonkey takes the fucken cake for that one. His first post and he's explaining ---- for people. He just totally skipped the "what's a turbo" question and went to breakin' it down. Just thought I'd share my observation :-X Nice. Welcome to the forum
