oil return fitting
maybe its just me but lately it seems like i have seen a lot of things on here about turbos smoking from the return line being to low on the oil pan and there have been a few pictures on here and it is making me wonder if mine is to low and could cause a problem. mine goes in about 3/4 to 1 inch below the top of the oil pan. do you guys think that is to much or is that okay? thanks for the help.

Re: oil return fitting
best way to figure it out is pour the same water as you would oil to see where the oil will sit in the pan
edit- of course this wouldn't be a good idea when it's still bolted onto the motor :P |
Re: oil return fitting
well when the engine is running a good amount of the oil is IN the motor so that's not too accurate I dont think.

Re: oil return fitting
maybe he was elluding to the fact that by doing that you will know the absolute highest teh oil will ever be and youll be worry free of it being to low?

Re: oil return fitting
I favor gas when doing tests like this. Oil and water don't mix, and gas is a great cleaner, especially after drilling the hole.

Re: oil return fitting
Gas would work, but when it comes to contraception, I like to pour a little paint thinner in that dirty bitch.
