oil problem

today i was tapping my oil pan. i JB'ed the fitting on...everything looked good...when i was driving home my car started to over heat. I pulled over...looked down and saw that the JB had ran down and i was leaking oil. I toped of what had dripped....waited for a bit, a block away from home my oil light started flashing....but my oil pres still read about 25-30 @ iddle.

here is my problem.
if the JB dripped out..it could have dripped in....how bad does this sound for my engine?
my dad was saying that buying 2 large nuts and just weld them on to the pan would be ALOT better?

It dripped? So you didn't let it harden overnight or what...

Did you put any on the inside? If so how much, also while it was drying was there oil in the motor. If no oil in the motor while it dryed it should be fine. I also had the same problem. I thinking of just welding a nout on to the pan like you said but never got around to it.

get any thing steal if its galvanized grind it off
i used a female air fitting by cutting off the tip and welding the threaded part to the pan

Re: oil problem

whenever I tap a pan I always remove it from the car and do it with the pan cleaned up.

I have the proper bit and tap also which helps. I just use the JB to seal it up.

Re: oil problem

when the pan was tapped it was removed, drilled a hole and expanded it with a cutting bit..
