Oil pressure Gauge help!

hey guys.. this is probably very simple, but i don't know what the problem is.. so here we go.

got a T-section from block, hooked up the sender unit, hooked up a wire at end where the bolt is to tighten it, ran into the cockpit.

Three wires come out of the Oil pressure Gauge:

1. Red
1. Black
1. Yellow

I tapped the Red and yellow together for power, ( as one is illumination) and black to obvious Ground.
the wire that comes from the Oil pressure sender, theres another bolt on the back of the gauge and says " S " near it. Instructions say thats where its suppose to go, so I did so. turned car on, let it run for a bit.. went for a spin... Nothing.. Illumination comes on, so its getting power, but other than that.. looks like a Show gauge with no Go lol.

Any ideas what could be other than a Dud Oil pressure gauge?

maybe a bad sending unit or a small break in your wire somewhere

Many times, the body of the sending unit has to be grounded to the chassis or engine, which sounds like your case seeing as there is only one wire from the sending unit to the gauge. Try that, i bet it'll work. ;)

ye its some Ebay cheapo .. GLOWSHIFT jazz.. I'll try the grounding soon.. keep ya'll in touch! Thanks!

any idea where i could mount it to? could i use the same nut where the cable is going to the gauge? or has to be somewhere else off the sender unit?

No they are not universal, some others may work though.

I'd just junk it and buy yourself an autometer oil pressure gauge. Mine ran me 52 dollars shipped off egay. Everything works fine and I've had it for over 6 months now.
