Re:Oil Pressure for b16 PR3
im gonna go out on a limb and say that motor is gonna blow up within the next two days

Re:Oil Pressure for b16 PR3
idle should be like 40-70 it really varies.

Re:Oil Pressure for b16 PR3
I would check for a kink/pinch in the oil feed line to the gauge, just to make sure its ok. You should be running alot higher than that, or your oil pump took a ----.

Re:Oil Pressure for b16 PR3
really? thats on idling only. but when revving it goes to 80psi.

Re:Oil Pressure for b16 PR3
check all the lines no leaks. could it be the pil pressure gauge? its back to 20 psi at idling? what should be the pressure when idling?

Re:Oil Pressure for b16 PR3
Should be ok.... spec is 10psi @ idle
50psi @ 3000rpm, those are minimum spec readings. Hehe... my tired old high c/r D16A6 makes 0psi @ idle once at operating temp (after a hard drive) and it still runs. I suggested to the current owner of the engine to run 20w50 in it through the summer, and to not be shocked when it grenades (should be any day now). ;D edit=spelling error correction |
Re:Oil Pressure for b16 PR3
BTW, the aforementioned D16 has been running like that for well over a year allready. Once the revs come up, so does the oil pressure, so it makes pressure when under load, which I think is the most significant factor.

Re:Oil Pressure for b16 PR3
I have a d16y8 and if I am low on oil my gauge reads 14-17 psi but when I give it gas it runs right up to 80 psi. It will fluctuate diffently. I can kinda tell when oil is low. If I have 4 full quarts it idle's at 25 psi.
