Oil line from oil pump housing?
I've noticed some oil line kits (none on here) now include a fitting for unscrewing that ... plug.. on the back of side of the engine on the oil pump housing. Then you thread in the new dingus and run the line from that.
Any feelings on that? I'm not sure if D series even have that there.. I know F/H/B series do. edit: http://www.z10eng.com/parts/mopf.jpg https://i19.ebayimg.com/02/i/01/09/42/93_1.JPG there is the adapter in question. it is for D series as well I found out and is made by Z10 Engineering. That is a 1/8 NPT inside it. |
Re:Oil line from oil pump housing?
the port's present on my D16A6 but it's pretty close to the alternator. as i recall the port's only a source for unfiltered oil - not ideal for turbos. use it for an oil pressure gauge maybe?

Re:Oil line from oil pump housing?
You don't install an oil pressure gauge before the filter, unless you have another one showing the actual oil pressure in the engine and want to see the filter drop...

Re:Oil line from oil pump housing?
well then i guess this lil adapter is pretty damn worthless... short of using it for an external oil cooler or summin. which i have zero need for since i have a 6.5q oil pan

Re:Oil line from oil pump housing?
that OBX pan is one ugly pile of ----, but it is functional.

Yeah, for the price, and the relatively minor fabbing it takes to get it to fit, I'm probably going to grab one for my B-series build.
